See The Sights

Situated along the banks of the Boise River and nestled against the base of the Rocky Mountain foothills, Boise State is just a heartbeat away from Idaho’s commercial, cultural and civic capital. As such, the university plays a vital role in the region’s economic development and famed quality of life. It’s no wonder the City of Trees has repeatedly been listed as one of the most desirable places for business and great outdoor recreation.

A 10-minute walk from campus will bring you downtown, where you’ll find movie theaters, galleries, restaurants, clubs and more. Or take a stroll along the Greenbelt, a 25-mile walking/biking path that links more than 850 acres of parks and natural areas along the Boise River.

Julia Davis Park, just across the river from campus, is home to the Boise Art Museum, Idaho State Historical Museum, Idaho Black History Museum, Zoo Boise, the Discovery Center of Idaho, a paddle boat house and the Julia Davis Rose Garden.

As the largest metropolitan area for 300 miles in any direction, Boise is Idaho’s center for business, government, health care and culture. About 215,000 people call Boise home, with another 300,000-plus in outlying communities to the west — including Meridian, Eagle, Kuna, Nampa and Caldwell. Almost 40,000 of those residents are Boise State alumni.
